FINDING HER PATH (So Small In A World So Big)

I was really inspired by the way children look at and discover the world. Carolina is someone we have watched grow from an infant into this head-strong toddler who is so fascinated by everything - especially the natural world. From the sweet sap on a tree, to how cold water is when you’re in the mountains and how there are so many birds and bugs.

The other side of this project was the act of physically finding your path in life and your place in the world, which Carolina is just at the start of.

There is also an innocence and openness with nature and also a fierce side, which is a lot like the journey to finding yourself, in knowing yourself and figuring out what you stand for.

KIRSTEN MIDDLETON

Kirsten Middleton is an action sports and adventure photographer, who dabbles in food and lifestyle images from time to time, because that ties into her passion for all things food quite nicely. The action and adventure side of things didn't come naturally, more something that she fell into and now it’s the integral part of her life - both professionally and personally - being a keen mountain biker, runner and just general explorer.

She is authentic in her style, melding both natural and artificial light for an image that stands out, but doesn’t look fake. She opts for an “outdoor studio” approach but will chop and change for a more traditional “indoor studio” for a different spin on creating and capturing adventure.

Photographing women athletes has been, and still is a huge passion for Kirsten, who wrote an article about the lack of an even mountain biking scene for women, before it absolutely exploded with women riders (mission accomplished there) and she continues to seek out and photograph amazing women from an olympian runner, to skateboarders and boulderers - she is always searching for the next amazing sport and athlete to be inspired by and hopefully inspire in return.

Kirsten is based in Christchurch, one the perfect meccas for outdoor activities but she loves any opportunity to head down south, with her husband (and business partner) and bikes in tow
